Some Carrots And A Fire Alarm

So last night I decided to boil up some baby carrots for Kirsten and us to eat. I knew they would have to boil for a really long time to get soft enough for Kirsten, so I put a lot of water in the pot. I checked them when she was ready to eat dinner, but they were still too hard. So I left them to boil longer and fed Kirsten her dinner, minus the carrots.
Pretty soon, I started to smell a gross burning smell and at that EXACT moment the smoke alarm went off. I rushed over to the stove and all the water from the pan was GONE! The carrots were just sitting there in the pan on high heat, burning to the bottom. I had to open the door and light a candle to get rid of the smell of scorched carrots. And the smoke alarm made Kirsten cry. I felt so dumb!

After I got Kirsten in bed it took me a long time to clean out the pan. At least I didn't ruin my beautiful Calphalon saucepan! So what kind of wife and mother are you? Apparently I'm the kind who burns carrots!

  3. Haha, that is hilarious. Do you know that probably 3 out of 4 times that I make rice, I burn it. Every time. I don't know how I can get so spacey but it happens to me too!

  8. Disneyland! Yes we have passes and I love it :) Are you planning on getting a park hopper ticket or just a one park ticket? Both Disneyland and CA Adventure have some pretty cool stuff for toddlers. Disneyland probably has a bit more. Ryan enjoys Fantasy land and Toontown, but also likes the Parade and music. CA Adventures has a better parade and A Bugs Life area that is perfect for his age. You can look on the Disneyland website and kind of see what's there and get an idea of what Kirsten would like best :) Hope this helps!

  9. I don't know why, but this reminds me of the time my mom left eggs getting hard-boiled when we were all in the basement... However long later, we heard a HUGE clatter & found the lid had evidently blown off the pot and hit the ceiling! There were pieces of hard boiled egg everywhere. It smelled gross for a long, long time.

    :)

  10. Smith fam- that's hilarious! I'm seriously cracking up that the lid burst off and hit the ceiling.

Hey, at least you make carrots for your kid. My kids are going to have bad eyes just 'cuz I don't like carrots.
