Happy 4th of July!!!

I hope everyone who reads this has a really great 4th of July! Go watch some fireworks, have a BBQ, and be grateful to live in our country! I'm very grateful to live here and enjoy the freedoms that we do. One year I was in France for the 4th of July, and it was really weird to not celebrate and not have it be a holiday at all. Over there, it was just a regular day. I'm excited to see fireworks tonight! I LOVE a good fireworks show!

I must admit I'm missing San Diego and my family a bunch this week. They got a campsite on the beach for the entire week (which we did most years when I was growing up), my aunt and uncle and cousins from Phoenix are visiting and camping with them, and I wish I could be there too! They also went to the Del Mar Fair (by FAR the best county fair ever!) and my Dad was making me jealous by talking about all the fair food they got to eat and the s'mores they were making that night on the fire. I LOVE fair food and I LOVE s'mores!

I love living in Seattle so much, but this week I'm feeling the pull of my home town and just wishing I could be there. I'm California dreamin'.

  1. I'm feelin' ya on missing your family. Living away from your family is harder than it looks. Mine came in town for a few weeks and I'm loving it. Hope you had a fun holiday!

  2. I hear you. Clark and I were missing UT SO bad. Nobody does Parades here like UT does Parades, and hardly anyone (it seems) lights fireworks. Holidays can be hard when you live away from the place you grew up.

Your pictures of Fireworks are incredible! Hope you had a fun 4th!

  5. Thanks everyone! I didn't take those pictures, I just got them off the net and thought they looked cool. I hadn't seen fireworks yet when I posted them. :) I'll post the one I took (not nearly as cool) in a few days though!

  6. We spent the 4th of July in Utah and it was pretty cool being with all my relatives up there. It was fun to use firecrackers up there since it's illegal in California. I haven't used them in forever!

  7. We got to spend the 4th of July with my family and it was nice to be with my parents again.
When we lived in Portland and Seattle I longed to move back closer to my family. After several years we did and then my dad got transfered out of state about a year after we got here!
So we are back to being far from family. But at least my parents are only a half day drive away and not three days.
