I think I kinda love this duvet cover from Pottery Barn. I saw it in their store the other day and have been thinking about it ever since. I've been trying to find great new bedding for awhile. We have an awesome down comforter that I love, but right now our duvet cover is pale blue and the whole bedroom looks kind of blah and boring. I think the colors in this cover are rich, spicy, and exciting! But I'd love to get some other opinions. You'll have to imagine it without the orange blanket, because I'd want green as an accent instead.
So what do you think? Feel free to be completely honest, and I won't be offended because I haven't bought it. Would this bedding give the room the fun spirit and playfulness that it needs? Or is it too girly, and I would get tired of it soon? For years and years, my parents had a hideous brown couch and love seat with orange flowers printed all over them. I'll bet it was a stylish choice in the 70's when they bought it (even though it's hard to imagine!) I just don't want to buy bedding that's going to look hideous and outdated within a few years. Should I make a safer choice, or go with the fun and vibrant?
(By the way, Stephen might hate it. I just figured I'd like some more opinions before I show it to him).

I like it. My husband would hate it. And yes, it's something your daughter will remember years from now and say "my mom had the ugliest duvet cover when I was growing up".
ReplyDeleteThat all being said, I'd get it. So it might not be trendy in a few years. I'm all for things that make you happy right now!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, ASHLEY!!! I would definitely get it!!! And the Green being accented will be AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it - who cares if it does go out of style in a few years??? That's the joy of a duevet :) I'm the type of person that likes change every couple of years (ok months :)) But I really like it - I love bright florals right now and that is super cute!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the print. Jim won't let me do flowers in our room, I don't know if Stephen's the same. It will stay in style until you get sick of it and change.
ReplyDeleteMy frist impression was that I LOVED it!! But as I read all you wrote, I echo everything Carrie said. Pretty much word for word.
ReplyDeleteMy husband cares more about sleeping than what he's sleeping on (or under). And how many people are actually going to see your bedroom, anyway? And as long as it's comfortable.....it'll be a great spare blanket for years to come.
My parent's first comforter was this cream-colored thing with brown rainbow stripes. (Even more hideous-looking than it sounds.) But I started sleeping with it when I was like 12 and still do. Seriously. It's under my "nice" comforter. I love that thing.
Kirsten might be the same way. And even if she's not....how big of a deal is it to you if she thinks that when she's 14?
ahem. You wanted opinions - there you go.
I like it and I don't think it looks too girly at all because of the colors. I think it would be really lively! And I wouldn't worry about not liking it in a few years--I think you run into that potential problem with anything you choose, unless you go with something completely neutral (and boring!) Bedding is relatively inexpensive enough that it doesn't have to last forever. I say go for it!
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, I LOVE it!!! It looks a lot like a chair I want!!! I LOVE the fun and bright colors!!! GO FOR IT!!! I WOULD!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm the only one who is not in love with it, haha! It's really cute and cool, but I am not a floral print fan for bedspreads. But it is totally trendy so if you love it, get it and then update the look when it goes out of style. You don't need to have the same bedspread till Kirsten is 20! :) It's fun to redecorate! So if you love it, get it!
ReplyDeletehhhmm you have a baby and you want something white in your house? - Did you want it to stay white? :P
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of floral prints unless it's tiny and/or very subtle. I guess I'm one of the few that isn't crazy about it.
I love it! Good choice! I am not sure how Steve would feel about it. I know that Hyrum would not like anything girly. But he is kinda weird like that.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOhh, I love it! It's so hard trying to find that balance of pretty, fun, but not too girly when purchasing bedding. But, it's fresh, it's bright, and I don't think too girly at all.
ReplyDeleteAlso, saw your post below...I am slightly obsessed with Williams-Sonoma too. It's dangerous. hee hee
Wow! I love it! It would look SO cute! You should get it.
ReplyDeleteAsh I LOVE it!! I'm actually thinking about getting a chair with that fabric as the slipcover. Too funny!
ReplyDeleteThanks SO much for all the opinions and comments! The overwhelming response seems to be that most people love it like I do. :) I'll show it to the hubby soon, hopefully tonight, and then decide and maybe get it! I'm usually not a fan of floral bedspreads either, I never have been in the past. . . until I saw this one! :)
ReplyDeleteI like it. But if you aren't completely convinced, go check out Garnet Hill, they have some amazing stuff too. As far as a lasting impact, it is a duvet cover, not like you're getting it tattooed on your forehead or anything. If you decide you don't like it in a couple of years, you get to go shopping again!
ReplyDeleteI love it. My husband would not like it though. I am trying though to convert him to fun patterns!
ReplyDeleteI like it and I think a lime green blanket or accent would look fun and pazazz too!!
ReplyDeleteLet us know what you end up getting. With picture of course.
I'm 100% for getting things in your home that make you feel good/happy. Your home is your sacred ground and it should reflect everything that makes you smile. Get it! Especially if you have plain walls you need a pattern. You could paint the walls one of the colors in the duvet and instantly make your room a room you feel happy to be in.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
