My Confessions

Confession #1: Until today, I hadn't left the house at all since Sunday. Yep, that's all day Monday, Tuesday, AND Wednesday of not setting foot outside. And I'm not even sick. Reasons? Well, Kirsten was generally pretty fussy and unhappy, it was cold and rainy outside, and I didn't want to give in to the temptation to spend money since we are low on it this week. The bad thing about staying indoors for three days straight? I think both Kirsten and I were going stir-crazy! The good thing? I never had to change out of my comfy drawstring pajama pants. And for a very pregnant person, that's a nice thing!
(Note: I did go lots of places today to make up for it. I drove a friend to the airport on snowy roads, went to my OB appointment, AND taught a harp lesson. I missed my pajama pants today, but gosh it was nice to go somewhere!)

Confession #2: McDonald's makes Kirsten happy. She was so good in the car on the drive to the airport, I stopped off at McDonald's on our way home to get some lunch. When we got home, she ate almost an entire cheeseburger by herself, some fries, and she shared my McFlurry. And she was SO happy after that! No wonder parents like taking their kids to that place!

Confession #3: I am seriously wanting to make my really yummy recipe for lemon cake soon. And I want to eat it for breakfast.

Confession #4: Yesterday I told Kirsten to pick out a movie she wanted to watch, and she picked Mamma Mia. I am thrilled that she loves a movie that I love as well! The whole thing is colorful and happy with nothing scary at all, and she loves the songs. I like to go to the Bonus section and just play the songs with the Sing-along option. She'll probably know the words to all the Abba songs before she knows the ABC's all the way through.
Confession #5: Ever since we went to Black Angus for my birthday dinner, I have been craving their Three Cheese Garlic Bread appetizer. It's SO good! I could eat it every day!

Confession #6: Kirsten still asks for her binky dozens of times every day. And I give it to her. She's still a baby, right???

Confession #7: I screen telephone calls on a very regular basis. I'm a total screener. That doesn't mean I don't want to talk to you though, I promise!!!

Confession #8: I was so psyched that Adam got through on American Idol this week. I think he's awesome, even though I despise the song 'Satisfaction.' And I, along with Simon, thank the stars that Nick/Norman/whoever he is didn't go through.

Confession #9: Before we had Kirsten, I had a strangely obsessive desire to get the entire Fisher Price Rainforest collection of baby gear. I did pretty good on it too! We got the bouncy seat, the swing, the high chair, a bunch of the toys, the pack 'n play, the jumperoo, the mobile, and the cute little gym pictured below that Kirsten loved. Yes, that was Kirsten in it when she was only a couple of weeks old!
Confession #10: Now that I've seen Fisher Price's new Precious Planet baby gear line, I find myself overcome with the same crazed desire. Of course we're not going to buy a second swing, high chair, or any of the big items. But would it be so bad to have a second playtime gym? That way we could keep one downstairs and keep one upstairs. . .
And seriously, how cute is this mobile? I love that it projects lights and images. We could always use another mobile. . . right?
Confession #11: I'm soooooo excited to see the Bachelor finale on Monday and find out what all the drama with DeAnna is about and see who Jason chooses. Reality TV was such a great invention!

  1. I have yet to see Mamma Mia, but this is the second thing I've read about someone loving it in the space of just a few hours. I think I must see this movie!!

And it's amazing what crazy urges we get to BUY BUY BUY baby things when we're preggo. LOL

  2. I don't think one of my jumper/mobile/bouncy/high chair/play things were from the same line - but they've lasted through 4 kids. Confession #10 needs to meet confession #1 (where you said you shouldn't spend money :) Caleb still likes to sit in his bouncer and kick back with his sippy cup. The bouncer almost lies flat. Good luck with the binkie - Caleb uses his sippy as a binkie. We were so glad we weren't going to have to break him of one, like the others, but he is just as attached to his sippy cup, sucks on it even when empty. Also, looking forward to the Bachelor!!

  6. Haha, totally me with the NotLeavingHomeForDaysAtATime thing! And that Fisher Price stuff is SO cute! But don't you agree that baby stuff tends to overtake the ENTIRE house like some kind of parasite??? All of a sudden the whole house is covered in bouncies, swings, beds, toys, gyms, everything!

  10. I want to stay home and not going anywhere. Unfortunately, my children have to go to school. And I wouldn't want to be stuck home with them whining at me all day.
I love that your little girls knows all the ABBA songs. I'm teaching my kids. ABBA rocks!
I didn't get to watch AI this week, because someone accidently canceled the DVR.
    DANGIT!

  11. I love you and all your confessions! I am totally a screener too. And hardly ever answer. That's what answering machines are for, right? And I would totally justify buying the other baby things :)

  12. I can't wait for Monday, either! And for the same reason. I'm also excited to see the AI judges wild card picks in a few weeks.

  13. Oh man! I'm dying to know who Jason picks too! It's bound to be a good show with all the advertising they're doing. : )

  14. I would go crazy if I didn't leave the house! I think the most T Junior and I have gone is one day.

We have the same jungle mat thing. T Junior LOVED it, but now it's in his closet because he's too big for it and way more into pulling the dogs' ears or attempting to beat mommy to the lamp's cord as she yells NO NO! Anyway...when I see the mat all packed up in his closet, it kinda makes me sad.

I think you should get the second one. The new baby should get some new stuff, too! :)
