I'm Baaaaaaaack!!!

I hope you've all missed me. . . I'm back from vacation! Just give me some time to get the photos all edited and organized, and then get ready for some posts full of pictures of our adventures in South America!

In the meantime, I have just one teeny, tiny little announcement to make. . .

Baby #3 is due October 30'th!!!

I've prepared some Frequently Asked Questions that I know you're all dying to ask me:

Q #1: Didn't you, like, just have a baby?
A: Yes. Natalie just turned one, and she and the new baby will be 18 months apart.

Q #2: Did you plan to have another baby so soon?
A: Umm. . . no. I didn't plan on being pregnant for the big vacation, and I had thought that a fall baby would be really nice. . . for NEXT year!

Q #3: Are you freaked out by the thought of having two kids so close in age, when your oldest will only be 3 1/2 years old?
A: Absolutely! Oh my gosh, I wonder how I'm going to leave the house. It's hard enough with two, I can't even imagine doing it with three! How will I get them all in and out of the car? How will I keep track of them all? Will I go completely insane? Yikes! It's scary!

Q #4: How far along are you and how have you been feeling?
A: I'm 14 weeks now, so right at the beginning of the second trimester. This pregnancy has been SOOOOO different from my other two. With my other two, I was really sick and threw up every single morning for pretty much the whole first trimester. I've felt MUCH better this time and have hardly been sick at all! It's been wonderful! I feel tired a lot, and really I only have trouble with nausea when I'm too tired and need more sleep. On the big trip, I was pretty sick and miserable but only on the days when we were waking up at insane hours (3 and 4 in the morning, anyone?) and traveling on lots of buses and planes when I wanted to be asleep in a bed. Overall, this pregnancy has been SO much easier and better so far than my first two were! And I'm very grateful for that!

Q #5: Are you going to find out the gender?
A: Yes, and I always have the hardest time waiting and being patient until that day! I just got my ultrasound scheduled for June 1'st!!! I can't wait to find out! Start the guesses coming!

Q #6: Are you hoping for a boy this time?
A: YES.

Q #7: Are you excited for this baby, even though it wasn't expected?
A: I really am! I was shocked at first and sometimes still can't believe I'm having a baby this year, but I am really thrilled and excited too. I absolutely know that this baby is coming to us at the right time, and I'll somehow manage to do it. I'm excited to have a family of five!

I'm sure I've missed some questions, so please leave me comments and ask! I'll do a follow-up post later and answer your questions, I promise. Enjoy my surprising news and stay tuned for lots more blog posting to come!

  16. Congrats!! I bet that was quite a shock for you guys. Having 3 is a challenge and you'll be really busy... but you adjust and get used to it (just don't plan on leaving the house very much with them all ;)). I'm guessing BOY!!! With my two boys, the morning sickness wasn't too bad, but with my girl it was much worse. So here's hoping for a boy!

  17. Congratulations Ashley!! I'm super excited for you! I love your excited, positive enthusiasm even though it wasn't planned! (Marianne was like that for us, but she was our FIRST, not our THIRD!) But you are such a great mom and I'm sure you will handle everything just fine. :) You're due about 2 months after me. :) I can never wait to find out the gender either, but I had my ultrasound last week and the baby wasn't cooperating so the dr couldn't tell!!!! So I ordered another one! :) I can't wait to find out what you're having! And I'm so glad you're feeling so much better! And I'm excited to hear all about your trip!

  23. WOW, congratulations! What a big surprise! I remember that we were chatting about pregnancy several months ago, and you mentioned how you didn't want to be pregnant for awhile. I can tell that you're excited, though. Yay!

I'm excited to hear about your trip, too! We'll have to get together soon, once you feel settled into life again. :)

  24. Wow! That is terrific! I so wasn't expecting that news when I clicked on this post. I'm glad to hear your pregnancy is relatively easy so far. That is always good. You are such an amazing mom that I know you'll do great! 2 girls then 1 boy would be my ideal, I think. I'm so happy and excited for you! Can't wait to hear about South America. I stole your Christmas ornament souvenir idea on our recent vacation and am wondering what you picked up. I know you'll have some amazing photos too. :)
